Speaking: Bicara tentang cuaca

Posted by Rizqi Jumat, 26 Juni 2009

Berbicara mengenai cuaca
Orang Inggris seringkali memulai pembicaraan tentang cuaca. Bisa dengan teman ato bahkan orang yang belum dikenal sekalipun.

Beberapa contoh, tentang pembuka percakapan adalah:
"Lovely day, isn't it!" "Bit nippy today." "What strange weather we're having!" "It doesn't look like it's going to stop raining today."

Attitude to weather

Kadang orang Inggris (British people) suka mengeluh tentang cuaca jelek. Walaupun begitu mereka masih bisa meyakinkan diri bahwa mereka baik2 saja. Jika anda mendengar keluhan tentang hujan lebat, mereka akan berpikir positif seperti, "Never mind - it's good for the garden". Jika cuaca terlalu panas, maka "At least my tomatoes will be happy".

Prediksi tentang cuaca

Kita bisa berbicara mengenai perkiraan cuaca dengan format apapun. Tidak sekedar "will" atau "going to":
"I think it'll clear up later."
"It's going to rain by the looks of it."

"We're in for frost tonight."
"They're expecting snow in the north."
"I hear that showers are coming our way."

Kadang cuaca juga diberikan sifat seperti manusia.

"The sun's trying to come out." (trying to come out = akhirnya nongol juga)
"It's been trying to rain all morning."

"It's finally decided to rain." (eh... akhirnya ujan juga)
